Make room for the little world you want to create. This guide explains furniture scale, the measurements that matter and the special case of baby furniture, so you can choose pieces for your doll and your scene.
The Short Answer
1:6 and 1:12 describe proportions. For the same full-size object, a 1:6 miniature has twice the length, width and height of a 1:12 miniature. Doll fit also depends on the design, usable space, clothing and pose.
What Do 1:6 and 1:12 Mean?
A 1:6 miniature represents one-sixth of the full-size dimensions; a 1:12 miniature represents one-twelfth. In inch measurements, 1 inch represents 6 inches at 1:6, or 1 foot at 1:12.
| Scale | Miniature length | Calculation |
|---|---|---|
| 1:6 | 12 cm / 4.72 in | 72 ÷ 6 |
| 1:12 | 6 cm / 2.36 in | 72 ÷ 12 |
This is a scale calculation, using one example object. Individual product designs have their own measurements, so compare the listed dimensions before choosing.
Check Fit in Four Steps
- Choose the scene and pose. Decide whether your doll will lie down, sit at a table or stand beside the furniture.
- Measure the doll in that pose. For a bed, check lying length; for a chair, check seated hip width, depth and leg clearance, including clothing.
- Compare usable space. Overall furniture dimensions and packaging dimensions serve different purposes. A bed’s exterior length does not give its exact sleeping space; a chair’s outer width does not give its seat width.
- Check the room as well. Allow space for doors, walkways, bedding, a canopy or the photograph you want to compose.
When usable measurements are not listed, contact us with the product name, your doll’s measurements and the pose you have in mind.
Why Can 1:6 Baby Furniture Suit a 15 cm Doll?
A cot or high chair represents furniture made for an infant, rather than an adult-sized bed or chair. Furniture proportions describe the object in its room; the intended doll size describes who can use that particular miniature.
Aizulhomey’s Lullaby cot uses 1:6 baby-furniture proportions and is intended for 1:12 dolls around 15 cm tall. Its overall size is 18 × 11.7 × 12.3 cm; the fitted canopy support brings the total height to 19 cm. Check the selected option for canopy contents.

The white baby high chair also uses 1:6 baby-furniture proportions and is intended for dolls up to 15 cm tall. Its seat is 5 cm wide × 4 cm deep. Compare your doll’s seated shape and leg clearance with the fixed tray, as well as overall height.

Common Buying Questions
What furniture should I choose for a doll around 15 cm tall?
Start with the product’s intended doll size, then compare its measurements with your doll’s body and pose. Some 1:12 furniture and the baby-furniture examples above can suit this size; the doll’s height alone does not establish fit for every piece.
Can I mix 1:6 and 1:12 pieces in one scene?
Yes, when the size and scene role work together. A larger piece can become a statement object, while a smaller accessory can add detail. Check each listing’s scale and dimensions, and choose the visual balance you want.
